How to get a mortgage agent license

Licensing requirements

Becoming a licensed mortgage broker is a simple process in Ontario. You should be aware that before you can become a licensed broker in Ontario you have to become a licensed agent first. This Ontario Government website lays out the requirements. Below how to become an agent is described. You should be able to figure out how to become a broker by yourself.

Eligibility

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a resident of Canada
  • Have a mailing address in Ontario that can receive registered mail (not a post office box)
  • Be authorized by a Mortgage Brokerage to deal in mortgages
  • Work for only one Mortgage Brokerage
  • Meet or be exempt from the Mortgage Agent education requirements
  • Have a valid e-mail address (this is necessary for the application process)

So, simply you have to go to Seneca college website. Register yourself for the course MAP100. Then attend the classes, write the exam and pass. Later you have to find a mortgage brokerage and get registered with FSCO thru them. You are good to go. We wish you good luck.
